South West Gateway Alliance - Bunbury Outer Ring Road

The Bunbury Outer Ring Road is a 27-kilometre four-lane, high standard road linking Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway which is currently under construction. The project will ease congestion and provide safer, more efficient traffic routes for freight, tourists, and locals.

Supersett Constructions were awarded a contract for comprehensive transverse drainage culvert installations across the project.

Our work on the project encompasses a wide range of tasks, including the excavation, laying, and backfilling of reinforced concrete pipe and concrete box culverts. Additionally, we are also involved in the installation of reinforced concrete elements (including formwork supply and installation, reinforcement fixing, and concrete placement), along with associated in-situ concrete works like base slabs, apron slabs, and headwalls. Furthermore, it includes the excavation, installation, and backfilling of fauna underpasses, excluding precast arch underpasses.

Scope:

• Excavation and backfill of culverts.

• Installation of concrete base and fauna shelf

• Installation of precast concrete box culverts of various sizes

• Install of in-situ wing and head walls

• Specialised concrete culvert connection into Harvey water drains

Supersett was engaged on the $1.35billion Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) Project in August 2022 to construct reinforced concrete box culverts (RCBC) across the North Section of the Project. This scope included the installation of structures ranging in size from single barrel 900 x 300mm span culverts up to large 5 barrel structures with boxes of 2400 x 2400mm.

Diving headfirst into a large infrastructure project that was already in full swing, Supersett distinguished themselves by being a solution-oriented Subcontractor who was proactive in identifying issues early, and worked diligently with the South West Gateway Alliance to solve problems to maintain program and budget.

Following the success of their first package on the Project, Supersett was awarded a second similar package of works to complete RCBC install in the Central and South Sections of the project, which is due to be completed by June 2024.
